According to Quranic Verses importance of Tajweed:

1. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:121): "Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers."

2. Surah Al-Muzzammil (73:4): "Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation."

According to Hadith importance of Tajweed:

1. Narrated by Aisha (RA): "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Such a person as recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Quran by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.'"

2. Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan (RA): "The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."

3. Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA): "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Whoever recites one letter from the Book of Allah, then he will receive one good deed as a recompense, and each good deed is tenfold. I do not say that Alif Lam Meem is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.'"
